Yoana Laskova
Integrative Occupational Therapist
I am an Integrative Occupational Therapist specialising in trauma-focused work, eating disorders, disordered eating, and sustainable weight management. My work is grounded in the understanding that our experiences shape the way we relate to ourselves, others, and the world around us. When life becomes overwhelming, we can find ourselves disconnected from our bodies, caught in unhelpful patterns, or struggling to engage in the things that matter most to us.
Drawing on Occupational Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and somatic approaches, I take a compassionate and evidence-based approach that considers the whole person, not just their symptoms. I approach each person with warmth, care, and genuine curiosity, creating a space where experiences can be understood without judgement and meaningful, sustainable change can take shape.
-
I hold a BSc in Cognitive Psychology and an MSc in Occupational Therapy, and I am currently completing Level 4 training in ACT. My work is also informed by experience in DBT practice and somatic approaches.
I have worked across NHS services and in private practice, supporting adults in day services and in the community through occupation-focused individual and group activities.
Through my work, I focus on the connection between mind, body, and spirit, taking a holistic and person-centred approach that recognises how people experience the world through both mind and body. I believe that we store and process experiences not only cognitively, but also physically, and that meaningful change comes from working with the person as a whole and their lived experience.
My approach centres on therapeutic collaboration and evidence-based, personalised care, creating a space where people feel safe to explore their experiences at their own pace, without judgement. I support individuals in developing a deeper understanding of themselves, building sustainable change, and reconnecting with meaningful ways of living.
In my free time, I work as an associate tutor at the University of East Anglia (UEA), teaching Occupational Therapy to BSc and MSc students. I love being in nature, hiking, cycling, camping, and foraging. And when the weather does not allow it, you can find me with a pot of tea and a nice book at home.
